One Hundred and Fifteen Years after its inception, on Friday, January 31 and Saturday, February 1, 2003 the annual Berry Show was again held "At one of the prettiest showgrounds in the State."

This year the Alpaca Section of the Show, organised by the Sydney, Coast & Highlands Region of the Australian Alpaca Association, resulted in a record entry of 14 Suri and 49 Huacaya alpacas together with 43 alpaca fleeces.

Alpacas from 29 alpaca studs were represented from as far away as Yass and Mudgee. Alpaca studs from the Hawkesbury-Blue Mountains and Southern Regions represented their Regions with numerous entries.

The day after sweltering temperatures in Berry of 45°C we were thrilled to have two fine pleasant days for our show.

The Judge, Ms. Kylie Hollingworth, carried out the judging of the fleeces on Friday, January 31 and awarded Champion Huacaya Fleece to Shanbrooke Statement owned by Ian & Harriett Davison and Celia Cook of Illawarra Alpacas of Cambewarra.

Champion Suri fleece was awarded to Elysion Carousel owned by successful Suri breeder Paul and Fran Haslin of Canyonleigh.

The judging of the alpacas was carried out on Saturday, with the animals limited to a minimum fleece length of 30mm and a maximum fleece length of 60mm in consideration of the warm summer we have had this year.

Illawarra Alpacas of Cambewarra were awarded with Supreme Champion Huacaya for their magnificent entry, Illawarra Xenoa.

Supreme Champion Suri was awarded to Elysion Rossini, owned by breeder Paul & Fran Haslin of Canyonleigh.

Thank you to all the exhibitors and sponsors who again supported this Show and who gave it their vote of approval.
